Flavio Ferreira

I am an Electronic Engineer and Embedded Systems Developer with over 25 years of hands-on experience in hardware design, embedded firmware, RF systems, and IoT products. I work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and feasibility to prototypes and production-ready solutions.

My expertise includes embedded firmware development in C/C++, both bare-metal and RTOS-based, using STM32, Nordic nRF52/nRF53, ESP32, and AVR platforms. I regularly work with Zephyr RTOS and FreeRTOS, focusing on robust, efficient, and maintainable designs.

I have strong experience in hardware design and bring-up, including schematic design, PCB layout, debugging, power electronics, sensor integration, and EMI-aware designs. I also have a solid background in RF and wireless technologies, such as RFID (UHF/NFC), Bluetooth Low Energy, LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi, and GSM, including antenna design and RF simulations.

From 2023 to 2025, I worked as an Electronic Engineer at a German multinational company, where I set up the electronics lab in Italy and led local R&D activities. I developed electronic control systems for AC/DC pumps, including FOC motor control, zero-crossing triac control, capacitive sensing, and DSP/FFT-based algorithms for motor behavior analysis, with Bluetooth connectivity and DFU support.

As a freelance engineer, I deliver end-to-end embedded and IoT solutions, including LoRaWAN sensing devices, GPS-enabled systems, battery-powered electronics, and cloud-connected products. I combine strong technical execution with product-oriented thinking, cost awareness, and industrialization experience.

I am fluent in English, a native Portuguese speaker, and have intermediate Italian (B1). I am authorized to work across the European Union and available for remote or hybrid freelance projects.
