Über Jean-Luc

I help hardware and medical device SMEs transform innovation into scalable, profitable operations. As a Fractional COO or VP Engineering, I step in when companies need to:
  • Move from prototype to industrialization
  • Structure engineering and operations
  • Build or fix supply chains
  • Improve margins and delivery predictability
  • Scale internationally
I combine engineering depth, manufacturing expertise, and financial discipline to align product, operations, and business performance.

My experience spans the full product lifecycle; from early feasibility and architecture decisions to supplier selection, industrialization, regulatory readiness, and low- to mid-volume manufacturing across US, Europe and Asia.

Typical engagements include structuring development roadmaps, de-risking supply chains, leading cross-functional projects, and acting as a trusted partner to management teams at the intersection of engineering, operations, and business. I am used to working in ISO 13485 environments and with international, multi-site teams.

My approach is pragmatic, structured, and execution-focused, with an emphasis on clear decision-making, risk reduction, and long-term value creation.

Led the transfer of the IQOS electronic device from PMI’s Switzerland-based R&D center to Asia, establishing and scaling an R&D and industrialization hub in Singapore. Responsible for this technology transfer, I drove the full development lifecycle from industrialized design and engineering through verification, production transfer, manufacturing qualification, and ramp-up to millions of devices per month.

Attracted by the engineering challenges, I worked on extreme miniaturization, high-end cosmetic quality, and a 350 °C heating technology designed to operate safely in consumers’ hands. In parallel, I expanded the Asian supply chain, particularly in China, and held full budget accountability for projects exceeding USD 100 million.
