Über Chana

I help organizations in healthcare and life sciences solve complex strategic and operational challenges, from program design, regulatory, and market entry to implementation and scale. With 15+ years of experience across government, academia, NGOs, and the private sector, I work with clients to turn ambiguity into clear, actionable plans.

My work typically supports clients facing challenges such as:

Launching or scaling health and life sciences initiatives
Designing programs tied to measurable outcomes
Navigating complex stakeholder and regulatory environments
Strengthening supply chains, technology adoption, or operating models
Aligning policy, funding, and commercial objectives
Managing high-value, multi-partner initiatives

I bring experience leading programs from €3M to €100M+, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and translating strategy into execution. My background spans health systems, financing, supply chains, digital health, and global program delivery across high-income and low- and middle-income settings.

I support clients through:

Strategy and program design
Market and landscape analysis
Operational planning and implementation
Risk assessment and governance structures
Partnership and stakeholder alignment
Monitoring, evaluation, and performance frameworks

I hold a PhD in Biomedical Science and am PMP-certified. My approach is pragmatic, structured, and focused on delivering solutions that are implementable, scalable, and aligned with client objectives.

    • Oversaw a team of 14 staff (direct and indirect) and managed all program components including strategic planning and program design, budget, client relationship, and compliance with USG rules and regulations and the global health security standards.
    • Led strategic engagement with U.S. government, host country counterparts, global health agencies (WHO, Food and Agriculture Organization, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank), and private sector (Illumina) to align priorities and resolve policy challenges.
    • Created novel approach to pathogen hotspot mapping that improves validity by combining model-based insights with expert knowledge, allowing countries to better predict where an outbreak may occur and choose effective surveillance sites, leading to reduced costs for additional sites and increased accuracy of outbreak detection. Paper published in
    • Oversaw the development of the first-of-its-kind biosecurity framework, coordinating with USG agencies, host governments, and global stakeholders to strengthen health systems and enhance pathogen surveillance and response capacity for emerging health threats in high-risk regions.

    • Oversaw a team of 3 and provided technical leadership and diagnostic expertise to a portfolio of infectious disease detection and surveillance projects totaling ~$50M funded by WHO, World Bank, Global Fund, CDC, USAID/State Department, GAVI, and Gates Foundation.
    • Portfolio responsibility rapidly increased by 65% (from $30M to $50M) in 2020 due to COVID-19 programs and contributed to $10M+ in revenue from 2018 to 2021.
    • Directed USAID-funded COVID-19 and Ebola Virus Disease response efforts across 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working with manufacturers (Cepheid, Molbio, Roche, Abbott) and regulatory authorities to introduce new technologies, increasing diagnostic capacities and strengthening surveillance. ○ Introduced manual antigen Rapid Diagnostics Tests and validated a COVID-19 cartridge from Cepheid for its automated platform. ○ In select countries, increased testing capacity between 20 and 70% resulting in thousands of people being tested, diagnosed, and treated.

    • Managed a technical team of 6 (direct and indirect) to advance operational research for the International Development Group's $100M portfolio. Direct management of ~$10M worth of family planning (FP) and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), supply chain, human resources for health, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis (TB) activities.
    • Led pharmaceutical and diagnostic supply chain and health impact evaluations in Ghana, Malawi, and Guatemala generating evidence-based policy decisions to increase market and patient access for family planning and reproductive healthcare. Most notably, evaluations revealed the following: ○ In Ghana, last mile health commodity distribution through 3rd party logistic providers increased product availability due to reduction in lead-time variability. In Guatemala, participatory monitoring mechanisms such as suggestion boxes at clinic sites, hotlines, and mobile technology increased community utilization of public health services. Developed supply chain KPIs based on client impact to evaluate supply chain performance.
    • Designed and led human-centered design proposals to improve healthcare service delivery in Nigeria; identified system gaps and locally driven, scalable solutions aligned with client and government priorities.
